Timothy Curry Walker, aged 74, died Friday, February 14, 2025 at his home in Irvine, California. Tim led a very active life as a father, businessman, and partner. He was an avid golfer, loved to socialize, listen to music, and practice his faith. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and beloved uncle. Tim lived in Irvine for the past 18 years. Prior to his time in Irvine, he resided in Elkhart, Indiana for nearly 30 years.
Born in Herrin, Illinois, on April 4, 1950, Tim was the second son to the late Jo Mitchell and Dorothy Shaeffer Walker. Tim spent his childhood and young adult life in Herrin. A very talented athlete at Herrin High School, Tim played five Varsity sports. He graduated in the class of ‘68 and has remained in touch with many of his friends from that time of his life. He attended Northwestern University, receiving a degree in History, and married his high school sweetheart, Sara ‘Sally’ Eugenia Dohanich in 1971. Tim was a devoted family man and loved reading and snow-skiing.
He is survived by his fiancee of 17 years, Donna McCune; sons Andrew (Edward Drogos) Walker and Jon C. (Kira) Walker; siblings Jon V. (Sondra) Walker, Steven (Pam) Walker, and Widney (David) Hawthorne; sister to his late wife Jane (Bo) Goldsmith; nieces and nephews Matthew Walker, Keith (Amber) Walker, Susanne (Ryan) Graham, Elizabeth (Jason Bartos) Goldsmith, Laura (Wesley Burt) Goldsmith, Trevor Hawthorne, and Amanda (Jason) Penharlow; children and grandchildren of his fiancee, Christine (Randy) Sharp, Tyler, and Lila; and two beloved great-nieces and three great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally; his parents, Jo and Dorothy Walker; and her parents George and Carmen Dohanich, all from Herrin, Illinois.
He was active in his church community and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Tim’s Celebration of Life will be on March 1, 2025 at 3:00pm at Church of the Messiah, 614 N. Bush St, Santa Ana, California 92701. His internment and an additional gathering in his honor will be held in Herrin, Illinois at a later date.
