Shirley Ann Kocman Shirley Ann Kocman , 79, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, September 10, 2012, surrounded by her family. A long-time resident of Las Vegas, Shirley was a successful business woman, popular friend, and a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.Born in Los Angeles June 4, 1933, she spent part of her childhood in Williams, Arizona before returning to Los Angeles where she attended Gardena High School. Born to Knute and Madge Cochran, she was raised with her brother Jimmy by her mother and stepfather, Henry Strickland. Shirley was married for 25 years to Frank Kocman and raised her five children in Anaheim where she established herself in the advertising industry. She expanded into the Los Angeles market establishing Plus Events, a successful trade and consumer expo company. Moving the business to Las Vegas she and her partner continued to grow their successful collaboration into a multi-million dollar enterprise, and retired in Las Vegas. A dedicated and loving mother, she was sadly preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Rhonda Maus and is survived by four children: Kim Shaw (Bill), Kathy Benz (Bill), Karen Woodruff (Brian), and Chris Kocman (Sabrina); and five grandchildren: Wayland, Hailey, William, Jack, and Carolina. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. She will be remembered by her friends and family as hard working, talented, compassionate and fun loving, with a twinkle in her eye and a beautiful smile. She had a passion for life and brought out the best in everyone. She will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, September 15 at Saddleback Chapel, 220 E. Main Street, Tustin, CA. Burial will be at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange, CA where she will be laid to rest next to her daughter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the SPCA, in support of Shirley's love of animals.
