Ronald Ellis Hoover

Funeral Obituary IRVINE - Ronald E. Hoover, 71, of Irvine, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born May 10, 1941 in Keyser, West Virginia formerly from Piedmont, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Ormal E. and Hallie R. Hoover. Ron graduated from Piedmont High School in 1959 with honors, Potomac State College in 1961 and West Virginia University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1964. He met his beautiful wife Saundra at Potomac State and they married in 1964. After graduation, he began his career with San Diego Gas and Electric and then went to Pratt and Whitney in Connecticut and returned to California in 1972 to join Fluor Corporation. Most recently, he was Project Manager of General Planning and Strategy at Southern California Edison.He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Saundra R. Hoover; sister, Beverly L. Hoover-Herbert, of New Freedom, PA; and two children, Robin Hoover Maness and her husband Mark, of Colleyville, Texas, and Scott Hoover and his wife, Jaime, of Costa Mesa, CA.A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00am Monday, January 7, 2013 at Saddleback Chapel, 220 E. Main Street, Tustin, CA 92780 with James D. Kane officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Hospital Foundation - The Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment, 1100 Stewart Dr., Orange, CA 92868.
