Patricia Walton Lynch

July 22, 1933 — March 9, 2024

Patricia Walton Lynch (Pat). Pat was born on July 22, 1933, to Bessie Redwine Walton and Russell Elwood Walton. She passed peacefully on March 9, 2024, at the age of 90.

Pat grew up the eldest of 4 children in the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina. After completing high school, she joined the Air Force, and was stationed at Shaw Air Force Base where she met and married Bill Williams. While raising their three children, she obtained her bachelor's degree from Rutgers University, and subsequently obtained her master’s in social work from the University of Houston. Pat had two successful careers, first as a real estate agent, then, after obtaining her master’s degree from the University of Houston, she became a licensed social worker. She genuinely cared for and sought the best for her patients.

Throughout her life, Pat’s greatest passion was art. After she and Bill moved their family to Houston, she began to study using acrylics and oils. She became a very talented artist who sold many paintings. During her travels, she took copious photographs and referenced them for inspiration in her paintings. Her artistic talent also extended to many creative endeavors; She was an incredibly talented seamstress, often sewing her children’s clothing. She was also an extremely creative cook; She made the best Christmas cookies! She has passed her love of cooking and eating (!) on to her children. Pat worked tirelessly to make her children’s childhood special!

Pat lived in the Houston area for over 45 years, and spent two years living in Caracas, Venezuela with Verne Lynch. After retiring, she indulged in her love of travel in the U.S. and abroad. One of her fondest memories was a 3-month RV trip that she and Verne took throughout the Western United States. They toured the many landmark sites: The Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, the Rocky Mountains, Utah, Washington state, the California coastline and the deserts of New Mexico. They were in awe of our country’s incredible landscape. In 2019 she moved to Huntsville AL and then, following a stroke in 2020, she resided in Orange, CA.

During her life, Pat enjoyed the company of a few good men! In the words of the song, all her exes lived in Texas (most of their lives). Pat and Bill divorced after 32 years of marriage. In 1986, she met and married Vern Lynch. They were happily married for 16 years, until his passing in 2000. In 2004, Pat married Frank Vaksdal, who passed in 2009. In her later years, while still living independently, she enjoyed the companionship of Soren Uhrenholdt.

Pat is remembered by friends and family for her intelligence and quick wit. Most importantly, to her family she is remembered as a devoted mother.

Pat was predeceased by her mother, Bessie Redwine Walton, her father, Russell Elwood Walton, her oldest son, David Keith Williams, and granddaughter Kelly Spencer. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Doug Williams and Judy Williams, her daughter and son-in-law Leslie Spencer and Phil Spencer, her sister and brother-in-law Betty and Skip Hauger, her brother and sister-in-law, Jerry Walton and Tricia Walton, and sister and brother-in-law Molly Bell and Gary Bell. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Lindsey Williams, Melanie Forrester, Cara Renfrow, Chris Williams, Shelby Williams, Dana Macke, Stacey Spencer, and Sean Spencer along with numerous great grandchildren.

The family plans to celebrate her life and love, at a later date, by spreading her ashes in the state that she loved, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer's foundation.
