June Luella (Boehlke) Richards

June 24, 1924 — December 27, 2023

June Richards, 99, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was born on June 24, 1924, at home in Sibley County, Grafton township, Minnesota to Albert and Luella Boehlke. She was the third daughter following Phyllis and Shirley, her devoted sisters. June graduated from Brownton High School in 1942 and worked clerical jobs until she met the love of her life, Gail Richards. They were married in 1946, and settled in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota. Their oldest daughter, Sharon, was born in October 1946 and four years later Margy was born in October, 1950. In 1951, Gail and June set out on the adventure of a lifetime and moved “lock stock and barrel” to California. Their third daughter, Cindy, came along in 1952, and their family was complete. They settled in Norwalk, California and made a life there for the next five decades. June was the ultimate homemaker and truly a “Jack of all Trades” She could do anything and make something beautiful out of nothing. Her greatest gift was hospitality and her home was a place that felt welcome to all that knocked on the front door. June entertained many, many people from Minnesota and beyond. She was always involved with her neighborhood and the Norwalk First United Methodist Church. She filled every possible role and eventually was the Chairman of the Administrative Board. She started a career as a Credit Union loan officer in her fifties and retired as a loan supervisor. She loved her job and helped hundreds of people with their finances. After retirement June and Gail traveled to Minnesota often to visit their daughter Cindy’s family and all their extended relatives. These trips were the highlight of their retirement along with watching every sporting event and dance recital their grandchildren participated in. After the passing of her husband Gail, June moved to Santa Ana, California, in 2003, and enjoyed being close to her Orange County daughters, grandchildren, and eventually great grandchildren. She moved to Town and Country Manor in 2017, where as always she made a positive impact on all she met with her kind smile and loving personality. June Richards lived a long and fulfilling life. She is deeply loved and will be missed by many. June was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Luella, her devoted husband, Gail, and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Ben, and Shirley and Ervin. June is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Mike, Margy and Terry, and Cindy and Tom, five grandchildren and their spouses, and nine great grandchildren.
