Josephine Zito

February 13, 1941 — November 17, 2023

Josephine Zito, age 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2023 after a courageous battle with Frontal Temporal Dementia. Josephine was born on February 13, 1941 in Chiusa Sclafani, Sicily to her mother, Marianna DiGiorgio and her father, Giovanni DiGiorgio. She was a loving mother to three married daughters, a caring Nonna to eight grandchildren, and an adoring wife to husband Santo Zito who passed in November 2020. Josephine excelled in everything she did; she was as much a creative fashion designer as she was an excellent homemaker. At the age of 19, she married her hometown sweetheart, Santo, and they spent 60 years happily married and building a beautiful life together. Josephine spent just over 50 years working as a seamstress and professional dressmaker, owning her own business in Tustin from 1975 to 2006 where she was an enthusiastic member of the Orange County community.

As a young girl, Josephine had a passion for performing in plays, and as an adult she loved to dance with her husband, Santo. Josephine was an active and caring woman who spent most of her life thinking about others. She always surrounded herself with friends and family, which is where she felt most comfortable and loved. She loved to entertain in their beautiful North Tustin home, hosting elaborate dinners to benefit the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation. She also made special St. Joseph bread each year in March to commemorate the Feast of St. Joseph.

Josephine is survived by her three daughters, Gisella and Greg Rewers of North Tustin, Tina and Daniel Kirk of Laguna Niguel and Lisa and Bill West of Huntington Beach as well as eight grandchildren, and one great granddaughter, Josephine Rose Kirk.

There will be a funeral service held for Josephine at 10 AM on December 1, 2023 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 1301 Sycamore Ave in Tustin.
