Joseph Swisher Joe was married to Helen, the love of his life for 61 years. They had 5 children, Mary Sue, Lee Anne, Joseph Jr, Lisa Ann and Peter. He has 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. At age 15, Joe quit school to help support his mother and two sisters. He worked as a machinist in the Aerospace industry for most of his adult life. Retiring from Hughes at age 59.In his younger days, he loved to hunt with bows & arrows and guns. He enjoyed roaming around the local, and sometimes not so local gun shows on the weekends. Once actually meeting Loren Green from one of his favorite TV shows, Bonanza. He loved all things country western. He loved to take road trips, traveling all over the United States with his family. Would love to visit battlegrounds of past wars, such as Gettysburg and Valley Forge. Traveling Route 66 stopping at fun roadside adventures. He loved to take the family camping and be outdoors. His love for adventure was displayed in full when he moved his whole family (Wife, five kids, one dog and as many possessions that would fit into a small U-Haul trailer) to California in the late 60s. He didnt have a job lined up or a place to live, but that did not stop him. Everything worked out as he knew it would and he remained in California until all of his children left the nest. Then a new adventure began where he and Helen split their time between their new homes in Oregon and Hemet California. Eventually moving back to Southern California full time because he missed the grandkids, once again he could mosey on down the road anytime he wanted to see his ever expanding family of grandkids and great grandkids. He loved sitting in the stands cheering them on at all the different sporting events they participated in. His granddaughter Vanessa fondly remembers her grandpop picking her up from school each week from the time she started Kindergarten until she was a freshman in high school. When the time came that illness stopped Joe from picking up the kids, he would always tell them how much he missed picking them up from school each week.During his retirement, he and Helen traveled the United States in their RV, visiting some of the best Country Western attractions of these United States.
