Joseph Succi,

Joe was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to the parents of Joseph and Helen. When Joe was 12 years old his father moved the family to Phoenix, Arizona. After Joe graduated West Phoenix High School he moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico to begin his adult life. He attended New Mexico State University where he met and married his first wife, Lydia and he began his illustrious career as a Professional Land Surveyor. In 1964, being tired of working in the desert, Joe packed up his family and moved to California where they made their home and raised four beautiful daughters. In 1991 Joe married his current wife Barbara and as the saying goes, “Lived happily ever after”.

As a Professional Land Surveyor Joe worked on many interesting projects over his 40 year career. He started his career working at White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico on the Honest John Anti-Personnel Missile and the Nike & Hawk Anti-craft Missiles. In Tucson, Arizona he worked on the Ballistic Missiles project. He worked on many of the layouts for Hotels and Casinos along the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada. In California he worked on many of the freeway projects around Los Angeles and Orange County including the overhead HOV lanes on the 110 Freeway. At Psomas Associates, he was made Project Surveyor for the relocation of a crude oil line running from Bakersfield to Torrance California.

If you know Joe, you know he loved baseball. Although he was a huge Dodger fan, it was fitting that his last project before he retired was re-building the pitcher’s mound at the Anaheim Stadium. When he retired, Psomas in recognition of his dedication and career achievements they sent him and his wife for a week to Hawaii and chartered a yacht for a day of deep sea fishing; one of Joe’s passions. When Joe retired he found new passions, working Sudoku puzzles and playing duplicate bridge achieving his Master Bridge Player status.

Joe was a Husband, Father (original Girl Dad), Brother, Uncle, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Joe is survived by his wife Barbara of 32 years, four daughters, Eileen (Rob) Ortega, Eva Succi, Carol Ann (John) Dashiell and Melissa (Henry) Lopez, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, his stepson Matthew Kondrath, his brother Carlo (JoAnn) Succi and sister Carolyn Haynes.

Joe loved his family and enjoyed life. When Joe wasn’t deep sea fishing, watching the Dodgers, playing bridge or he and Barbara were not off on a cruise, they were dancing to a good swing song or donning their cowboy hats and boots for some country western dancing! In Joe’s words “life doesn’t get better than this!” We will greatly miss him and his beautiful smile and kind heart.
