Jay R. Mead Jay Mead ObituaryJay Ronald Mead died surrounded by family and friends on March 6th, 2015 at the age of 49. Jay was born on July 26th, 1965 in Long Beach, CA. He graduated from Fountain Valley High School in 1984 and was active in Theater and Choir. He attended Golden West College and performed in theater productions during his two years in attendance. Jay suffered a massive head injury on August 20th, 1994 from a fall during a stunt performance at Knott's Berry Farm. During the last 20 years, Jay lived at Care Meridian Subacute Care Facility in Tustin, California under the guidance and continuous loving care of his immediate family. Jay was an Actor, Stuntman, Comedian and new SAG member with a dream to break into television and movies and was in the process to make it happen for himself. Jay was the lead stuntman at Knott's Berry Farm, a stuntman/actor at Universal Studios, along with projects in TV, film, and stage at the time of his accident. Jay was an instant friend to everyone he met because of his vivacious energy and wickedly witty and irreverent sense of humor. He always kept his friends and family in a state of perpetual merriment. He skillfully honed his natural gifts of comedic performance on his sister, cousins, and friends while growing up in Fountain Valley, CA. Starting in 1997, Jay communicated letters through a medium. She transcribed these messages to his family. His mother, Berniece, wrote a book about these letters titled, "LETTERS FROM 'J' : The Expanded Life of a Coma Patient". Jay was preceded in death by his father Ronald Mead on August 13th, 2014. Jay is survived by his mother Berniece Mead of Tustin, CA, his sister Jan Eileen Mead of Oklahoma City, OK, nephews Nathan and Nicholas Moehring of Wichita, KS, and a large loving group of aunts, uncles and cousins. Jay's light will be missed by all who knew him. His brilliantly shining spirit, effervescent joy, and numerous talents will be celebrated during a memorial service at Saddleback Chapel Mortuary at 220 E. Main St., Tustin, CA, 92780 on Sunday March 15th, 2015 at 2:00pm. Viewing is from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.
