Funeral Arrangements Imelda Jane Blessey Arrington January 18, 1927- July 11, 2014Imelda Jane Blessey Arrington,87, passed away at her home in Villa Park, CA on Friday, July 11, 2014 surrounded by the love of her family. Jane was born January 18, 1927 in New Orleans, LA to Walter J. Blessey and Norma Crumhorn Blessey. She graduated from Mount Carmel High School in New Orleans in 1945. She attended Dominican College in New Orleans and graduated from the University of Southwest Louisiana in Lafayette. In 1950 Jane married Robert A. Arrington of Tulsa, OK and over the next 21 years their family grew to include 5 boys and 5 girls. During the 1950's the family lived in locations such as Newport News, RI and Honolulu, HI before moving to Anaheim, CA in 1959, and ultimately to Villa Park, CA in 1966. Jane was the matriarch of an expansive family, she was respected and loved by all who knew her.Jane was a lifelong advocate of Catholic education and instilled this value in her children. She was a religious education instructor at St. Norbert's Catholic Church and was a member of the the docent guild of the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, CA for over 20 years. She was particularly dedicated to preparing and testing local youth for the Guild's Annual Geography Exam. For leisure, Jane enjoyed knitting for grandchildren and spent countless hours tending her beautiful garden and fruit tree orchard. Her love of sports included Angels Baseball, USC and Servite football, as well as cheering on the New Orleans Saints. She frequently attended the sporting activities of her children throughout their youth as well as those of her beloved grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with her children in her later years.Jane is survived by her children Mary Jayne Pugh (Doug), Bob (Judy), Nanci Irwin (Jim), Lois Jones, Walt (Tina), Peggy Burgeson (Scott), Don (Wendy), Melanie Belger, Bill (Stephanie), and Mike (Melissa), 24 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Also survived by siblings Joan Anseman, Rosanna Martyn, Emanuel Blessey, and William Blessey. Jane was predeceased by her parents and by her siblings Walter Blessey, Mary Alice Bradley, Earl Blessey, Norman Blessey, and Anne Gernhauser.A vigil will be held from 5-9 pm on Tuesday July 15, 2014 at Saddleback Chapel in Tustin, CA. Rosary Service will begin at 7 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Point Loma, CA on July 17 at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Point Loma, CA. A Celebration of Jane's life will be held after the services. Funeral Information Visitation Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 5-9 pm, with Rosary at 7 pm, at Saddleback Chapel, Tustin Funeral Mass Thursday, July 17 at 11:30 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Point Loma, CA, Burial to follow at 2:00 pm at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego
