Gordon Knight Anderson

June 29, 1930 — November 15, 2024

On November 15, 2024, Gordon Knight Anderson (94) returned home to his Heavenly Father and was reunited with his sweet wife, Geraldine "Geri" Anderson. Gordon passed away peacefully in his home in Tustin, California.

Gordon was born on June 29, 1930, and was the beloved son of Dean and Elva Anderson. Raised in Utah and later settling in California, Gordon married the love of his life, Geri, on August 9, 1950, in the Los Angeles California Temple. Their marriage was a testament to unwavering devotion and love. Gordon expressed, “I am grateful that I have been able to be a part of Geri’s life and look forward to the eternity we will share together as husband and wife.” Geri preceded him in death in 2010, and he cherished their memories, looking forward to an eternal reunion.

Of all the things in his life which he considered important, he ranked his family first. He was a devoted husband and a loving father to his children: Patti (Scott) Smith, Laurie (Kerry) Arnott, Cathy (Steven) Hubbard, and Steve (Marilyn) Anderson. He leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

His strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his life. A dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he lived his faith through service and led by example with integrity and devotion. He continually gave of himself through service to the Church throughout his life. Gordon was immensely proud of his service as a missionary in Australia from 1950 to 1952. He served over 25 years as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America and loved teaching the young men and taking them on outdoor adventures.

Professionally, Gordon was a talented mechanical engineer and patent agent with a brilliant mind for invention and innovation. He held numerous patents for his own creations and was known for re-engineering just about everything around him to make it more efficient. His youthful exuberance was evident whenever he devised something clever, and his energy was infectious to those around him.

Gordon was passionate about guns. He was enthusiastic about collecting, building, and shooting all types of rifles and handguns. He loved sharing the history and stories of his collection with anyone who would listen. He built many rifles, using his excellent woodworking abilities to craft beautiful inlaid designs, making each one unique and special.

Gordon Anderson will be remembered for his inventive spirit, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family. His legacy of devotion, loyalty, and integrity continues to inspire all who knew him. He leaves behind a family who adored him and a community enriched by his contributions.
