Esperanza "Hope" Grado

Esperanza “Hope” Barragan Grado passed away peacefully on February 6th, 2022, at the age of 93. She was born on February 2nd, 1929 in El Paso, Texas to Primo Barragan and Guadalupe Vasquez. She was the third of five children. Hope married Gilbert Grado on October 29, 1950 at Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Together, they lived in Washington, D.C.; El Paso, Texas; and Denver, Colorado; before finally settling in Tustin, California, in 1964, and making it their home for over 56 years.

Hope was a devoted mother and wife, and a long-standing member of St. Cecilia Church.

Hope is survived by her husband of 71 years, Gilbert Grado, her three children; Irene Slusher (Ken) of Applegate, CA, Gil Grado II (Debbie) of Salinas, CA, and Rebecca Grado (Charles) of San Ramon, CA, her five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and brother Eduardo Barragan.

We would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Sunrise Senior Living for the superb care given to Hope in the last month of her life.

A funeral mass in her honor will be held at St Cecilia Church on Monday, March 21st at 10:30am.
