Doris "Joan" Gribble, 91, dedicated mother and celebrated Scouting volunteer

Doris "Joan" Gribble, a longtime resident of Santa Ana, California, passed away peacefully at home on October 14, 2025, at the age of 90. Her life was a testament to service, family, and creative passion, leaving a legacy cherished by her family and the countless young lives she touched.

Born to John Randolph and Doris Montez Wright-Hay, Joan inherited a spirit of generosity that she carried throughout her life. She was a gifted and avid quilter, and her skillful hands also brought to life many other beautiful sewing projects.

For many years, Joan was a dedicated volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, now Scouting America. Her unwavering commitment and significant impact on youth were recognized with the Silver Beaver award, the highest council-level distinction for adult volunteers. She was especially known for her enthusiastic work at Camp Myford Cub Day Camp.

Joan and her husband, Bill, found immense joy in their shared love for the outdoors. They traveled the country together in their trailer, exploring scenic national parks and creating cherished memories on the open road.

Joan is survived by her devoted husband of 71 years, William "Bill" Gribble. Her memory will also be forever held by her three sons, Micheal, Jon, and Glenn. She was a loving and proud grandmother to three grandchildren and great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren.

Her warmth, dedication, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
