Diego Alejandro Pineda Rochin, passed away unexpectedly on March 14, 2026, at the age of 22.
Diego was born on May 17, 2003, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. He spent his early childhood years in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, before moving to Tustin, California, where he grew up into a wonderful young man, and formed deep and lasting connections with friends, teammates, and community.
From a young age, Diego showed a strong sense of determination and quiet confidence. He was an active athlete, playing soccer throughout his elementary and middle school years, and later competing in football and wrestling during high school. He carried that same discipline into his personal life, enjoying working out and practicing jujitsu. Diego graduated from Beckman High School in 2021.
Diego began his college education at the University of Idaho before transferring to Arizona State University, where he pursued a degree in Biomedical Engineering. He was known for his tireless work ethic, consistently balancing his studies with work, including time spent at summer camps and in a university lab. No matter how full his schedule, Diego was someone who always showed up, with a steady, dependable presence that others came to rely on. Though naturally quiet, Diego had a subtle and playful side, and could be mischievous with a fiercely independent streak. Diego also had a deep love for animals, especially dogs and cats.
Family was central to Diego’s life. As the middle child, he looked up to his older brother, Tomas, and embraced his role as supporter to his younger brother, Andrés. He shared a very close bond with his mother, Luz Maria, whose love and guidance shaped so much of who he became. Diego also adored his father, Tomas Pineda, who passed away in 2017. He is survived by his grandparents, Luz Maria Borbolla, Roberto Rochin, Anabel Escobar, and Mauricio Hernandez, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Diego will be remembered for his determination, his quiet strength, and his unwavering presence in the lives of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever carried in the hearts of his family and friends.
