Charles passed away peacefully at the assisted living home close to his boat in San Diego on April 13, 2026 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Charles was born on May 12,1956 to Ruth E Stewart and Dr. Edgar B Stewart in Orange County, CA. He is survived by his daughter, Caroline Stewart and his four siblings, Donald R Stewart, John Stewart, Elizabeth B Stewart, and Mary B Stewart.

Charles was someone who was loved by many. His charismatic charm and dedication to what he believed to be right was unique to his uncompromising character. In Charlies younger years, he was known to be a precocious child whom you could rely on to fix almost anything. Being bright beyond his years, he inherently grew up to be an ambitious adolescent who rarely took no for an answer. This persistent behavior continued throughout his life and prevailed when his time came to battle cancer.

His hobbies included such things as fishing, flying drones, remote control airplanes along with boating and RVs. Charles traveled on the Harris's ship for years throughout Mexico, the Panama Canal and the Caribbean helping with any mechanical issues and making sure the ship was running well. This would be classified as his Dream vacation. Charles loved spending time at the family farm in North Carolina and finally got around to getting his very own tractor! Charles also took great pleasure in adopting his Mothers Boxer, Beauregard, in which they were inseparable.

Charles loved all of his family and would often say nothing matters more in life. One of the greatest highlights in his life was when he married Nichole R Stewart. His Mother in Law, Geri Vigil, was a constant companion who seldom left his side after her daughter, Nichole Stewart's death on July 28, 2025. Geri made sure to weather the storm with Charles until the very end. He will be missed by many friends and family. Charles will be placed to rest at the Stewart Family Cemetery on their Farm in Laurinburg, North Carolina on May 16, 2026.
