Arthur William Busse

Funeral Arrangements Arthur William Busse, 88, has left to be with his beloved wife, Mary Kathleen Busse, to be buried at Riverside National Cemetery. Arthur passed away quietly at home on November 25th, 2012. He was born August 11th, 1924, in Syracuse, NY, son of the late Hattie and William Busse. He was retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. who served as a B17 Aerial Navigator during World War II; flying 24 Combat missions over Germany. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1948, and in 1951 he reentered the Air Force. While stationed at Stewart AFB, Newburgh, NY, he met his beautiful red-headed wife, an Air Force Nurse. They married on May 3, 1952 and had four children; Jeffrey, Suzanne, Nancy, and James. He has been awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross with one oak leaf cluster and an air medal with on silver, and two bronze clusters. He also received medals for his service in WWII, the Korean War, and duty in Vietnam. He became a Regular Officer and flew as a Navigator throughout his thirty year career. He retired at Travis AFB as a Lt. Colonel after flying combat missions during the Vietnam crisis. Arthur worked for Orange County Transit District where he served as a Comptroller for 10 years. Southern California became his home for his family; a location he dearly loved. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Paul Busse of Seal Beach, CA; daughter, Suzanne Elizabeth Jewell, San Diego, CA; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Kathleen and Paul Deutz along with their step-children Candice Deutz and Paul Deutx IV of San Diego, CA; son and daughter-in-law, James Arthur Busse and Geneva, Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Leah Katherine Herron, Mary Kathleen Sclater, Dyanna Elizabeth Jewell, Laura Ashley Busse, Nicole Elana Jewell, Jeffrey Paul Busse Jr., Jeffrey Scott Perea; great-granddaughter, Isabella Kalena Busse. Arthur's only brother, Harold Busse, is deceased and his remaining family of nieces and nephews reside in up-state New York. Funeral Information Visitation will be held at Saddleback Chapel Mortuary, 220 E. Main St, Tustin, CA 92780 from 9 to 10:30am on Friday, November 30th, 2012. Burial to follow at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA 92518.
