Allen was born on July 30, 1938, in Garden City, Utah. He is the son of Carl August Hildt and Anna McCann Hildt McDermott. Allen grew up in Ogden, Utah, and Clifton, Idaho, where, at the age of 15, he met his wife, Carolyn Westover from Lewiston, Utah. The two were sealed in the Logan, Utah, temple on November 1, 1957.
Allen graduated from Brigham Young University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in history with an English minor, followed by a Master’s degree in public administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He worked for the Social Security Administration for 25 years and then as an insurance agent for both Griffith Sincock and Norton Insurance Companies for 12 years. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served with Carolyn as a missionary in the Canada, Halifax mission from 2005 to 2007 and the CES Costa Mesa Institute mission from 2008 to 2011. Allen and Carolyn have lived in Irvine, California, for 52 years.
Allen was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa. His boundless energy and excitement for life were contagious. He was dearly loved by his friends and family and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 23 Lake Road in Irvine, California. Viewings will be held at the same location on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
